CERAMICSPEED - UFO DRIP WET CONDITIONS CHAIN COATING
loading..
For those riding in consistently wet conditions, our new UFO Drip for Wet Conditions has been uniquely developed to maximize the benefits of a wax chain lubricant, while resisting deterioration through wet riding conditions.
The chain coating is developed to support all disciplines and is based on a non-toxic, non-flammable and bio-degradable formula. For wet conditions, the chain must be dried following the ride and a fresh coating of UFO Drip applied to ensure the best protection and continuing optimization.
The new UFO Drip blend is designed not only to optimise drivetrain efficiency. The non-toxic, non-flammable, bio-degradable formula is both safe and environmentally friendly.
To make sure that our new UFO Drip Wet Conditions could uphold the performance and quality that we were searching for, we had to take it to our internal Test Lab. Here, we challenged ourselves by putting the new UFO Drip Wet Conditions through its paces in a confined wet environment. This would also give us an indication of how the product performed in comparison to wet lubrication products from other brands on the market.
The protocol for the Wet Condition test is quite straightforward. Add a chain – coated with UFO Drip Wet Conditions – to an automated drivetrain that can uphold 250 watts with no fluctuation at a speed of 56 km/t. Water will constantly be supplied to the chain during the entire test period.
After 20 minutes, we remove the chain and check the ‘loss of watts’. Then we add it again to our Water Test. Every hour after that, we repeat the watt loss test. This process continues for five straight hours.
the test clearly shows that after about an hour and a half, most of the comparison lubrications start to spike in watt loss and most of them wear off, while our UFO Drip Wet Conditions keeps a steady "watt loss" throughout the entire test period.
Note: External testing is currently being conducted by Adam Kerin of Zero Friction Cycling. We'll make this data available as soon as we have it.
Our UFO Drip Chain Coating is designed for easy and effortless application. We've included an agitator in each bottle to ensure that the wax remains evenly blended even at the temperature extremes. Just remember to shake the bottle well before each application.
For new chains and first application: Fully clean and dry the chain, ensuring to rinse all cleaner off before drying. We recommend CeramicSpeed Clean Drivetrain for this purpose. Always shake your UFO Drip bottle well before each use to ensure an even application of waxes.
Apply UFO Drip directly to the chain rollers over the cassette, rotating the chain slowly backwards to coat the entire length of the chain twice. Next, apply UFO Drip to the inside of the chain, along the rollers on the bottom span over the chain and coat the entire length of the chain twice. Allow UFO Drip to dry a minimum of 8 hours for best results and clean performance.
For follow up applications with an overall clean drive train: Wipe the chain surface with a dry and clean cloth. Shake the UFO Drip bottle well. Apply UFO Drip directly to the chain rollers over the cassette, rotating the chain slowly backwards. Coat the entire length of the chain twice. Let dry for 8 hours. If your drive train has become thoroughly dirty and contaminated, begin with a full cleaning and coating as you would for a first application.
CeramicSpeed is one of the world’s leading suppliers of ceramic bearings. The company consists of two specialised sales channels, focusing on cycling and industrial applications.
We have more than 15 years of experience in bearings applications, and we have developed close relationships with our component suppliers over the time – each of whom is the very best in their fields. The CeramicSpeed Sports channel delivers both bearings as well as ultrafast racing chains, reinforcing the company’s goal of saving watts and delivering the lowest friction available. All our bearings are handmade and our chains are optimised by hand in Denmark.
