- BUYING A BIKE
The S5 is a sport-wide benchmark for speed and aerodynamic efficiency—with the race results to back it up. From Wout van Aert winning the Green Jersey by the biggest margin of victory in modern history, to Simon Yates riding himself into the maglia rosa, S5’s iconic V-stem and bayonet fork are a fixture at the front of the professional peloton. The new S5 builds on that legacy of speed by getting even faster.
The new bike is over 6 Watts faster than its predecessor, 124 grams lighter, and retains the handling, poise, and stability that riders everywhere love. The biggest changes are at the front of the bike, where the most significant aerodynamic performance comes from. The fork legs and head tube got quite a bit deeper, and the all-new, one-piece handlebar/stem builds on the original V-stem concept—and gets even faster.
Cervélo and Reserve co-developed the new Reserve 57|64 Turbulent Aero wheels specifically for use in the S5 frame, completing the aerodynamic system.Aero Aero Aero
The new S5 is 6.3 Watts faster than its predecessor. These gains are realized primarily at the front end of the bike, but the integration of the asymmetric profiles of the seat tube and rear wheel are a significant source as well. Cervélo has long been the aerodynamic leader in the peloton, and we’re confident that the new S5 is at least 5 Watts faster than the bikes of our competitors.
One-Piece Handlebar/Stem
HB19 uses our “Plus-Four” concept, meaning the dimension at the hoods is 4cm narrower than in the drops (e.g. 38cm/42cm). This approach helps riders maintain a more aero body position while their hands are on the hoods, and provides stability in the drops for descending and sprinting. All bar sizes are UCI-legal, even in light of the most recent regulations change.
Not just faster. Lighter, too.
Despite an increase in surface area, the new S5 is 124 grams lighter than its predecessor. While the increase in fork and head tube depth added weight, we optimized the layup and hardware to make the system lighter.
Reserve 57|64 Designed for S5:
The new Reserve 57|64 wheelset was co-developed by Reserve and Cervélo, and designed for use in the new S5. The rear wheel’s asymmetry matches the seat tube, ensuring air flows smoothly over both. The new wheelset is 3 Watts faster than the 52|63 wheels, and weighs the same.Colour Five Black, Carnelian Color Finish Gloss Fork Cervélo All-Carbon, Bayonet S5 Fork Headset FSA IS2 1-1/8, 36° x 45° / 1-3/8, 36° x 45° Seatpost Cervélo SP34 Carbon Seatpost Sizing 48cm - 0mm, 51cm - 0mm, 54cm - 0mm, 56cm - 0mm, 58cm - 15mm, 61cm - 15mm Left Shifter/Brake Shimano Ultegra, R8170 Right Shifter/Brake Shimano Ultegra, R8170 Front Derailleur Shimano Ultegra, R8150 Rear Derailleur Shimano Ultegra, R8150 Brake Rotors Shimano CL800 Centerlock Front Thru Axles Cervélo Aero Thru Axle Front, M12x1.5mm, 122mm length Rear Thru Axles Cervélo Aero Thru Axle Rear, M12x1.0mm, 169mm length Bottom Bracket FSA, BBright thread together for 24mm spindle Crankset Shimano Ultegra, R8100, 52/36T Crankset Sizing 48cm - 165mm, 51cm - 165mm, 54cm - 170mm, 56cm - 170mm, 58cm - 172.5mm, 61cm - 172.5mm Power Meter 4iiii Precision Pro, GEN3+ Dual Sided Handlebar Sizing 48cm - 36cm, 51cm - 38cm, 54cm - 40cm, 56cm - 40cm, 58cm - 40cm, 61cm - 40cm Stem Sizing 48cm - 80mm, 51cm - 90mm, 54cm - 100mm, 56cm - 100mm, 58cm - 110mm, 61cm - 120mm 1-piece Handlebar/Stem Cervélo HB19 Carbon Saddle Selle Italia NOVUS BOOST EVO SuperFlow Ti Cassette Shimano Ultegra, R8100, 11-34T, 12-Speed Chain Shimano M8100 Front Wheel Reserve 57TA, DT Swiss 240, 12x100mm, 24H, centerlock, tubeless compatible Rear Wheel Reserve 64TA, DT Swiss 240, 12x142mm, HG freehub 24H, centerlock, tubeless compatible Tire Vittoria Corsa Pro TLR G2.0 700x29c Max Tire Width 34mm Accessories Cervélo Front Computer/Accessory Mount 887, Cervélo Rear Accessory Mount 48 51 54 56 58 61 Reach | mm 367 376 384 392 401 409 Stack | mm 496 519 542 565 588 608 Head Tube Angle 71° 72° 73° 73.5° 73.5° 73.5 Front Center | mm 579 580 581 588 604 617 Bottom Bracket Drop | mm 72.5 72.5 70 70 67.5 69.5 Head Tube Length | mm 69 87 109 130 157 173 Top Tube Length | mm 520 535 550 565 581 595 Seat Tube Angle 73° 73° 73° 73° 73° 73 Standover Height | mm 707.5 729.2 747.4 775.3 805.9 822 Trail | mm 57.1 57 57.1 57 57 595 Wheel Size 700C 700C 700C 700C 700C 700C Fork Offset | mm 58 52 46 43 43 43.5 Wheelbase | mm 973 974 975 982 999 1013 Chainstay Length | mm 405 405 405 405 405 405 All bikes purchased from iRIDE will have been pre-assembled by our mechanics and test ridden. You will also receive a multi point checklist of all the safety checks and bike build elements we work through to ensure you bike is correctly assembled, and then tested so that it runs as it should. Bikes being sent to a customer who is unable to collect it from iRIDE, will have it boxed, wheels, saddle and bars generally off and re-packaged.
The delivery of bikes will be organized once a freight fee can be determined based on weight and delivery location.
Assembly should take no longer than 10-20 minutes. It is recommended that a skilled mechanic assemble, or check the bike. If possible your local bike shop is likely best placed to do this from a safety perspective to ensure all is as it should be. If a rider is having any issues we can hook up an online video chat, or talk over the phone. If this service is required email us at workshop@iride.net.nz to organise a time that suits all parties.
